The National Association of Broadcasters will bestow its Service to America Leadership Award on former President Bill Clinton at a June ceremony in Washington.
“President Clinton has dedicated his life to public service in the role of Governor, President, and now as a tireless leader in global humanitarian relief efforts,” said NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr. “The NAB Education Foundation is proud to honor him for his service to the United States and to the world.”
NAB cited Clinton’s efforts on behalf of tsunami victims in Southeast Asia, Hurricane Katrina victims and sufferers of HIV/AIDS throughout the world. Clinton also raises money for the families of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, NAB said.
Earlier recipients of the award include Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, First Lady Laura Bush, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalyn Carter, and former First Lady Nancy Reagan.
The award will be presented at NAB’s Service to America Gala, June 12 in Washington.
